Wednesday 13th March 2024 Clubcards and Cashback – Do they Die With the Owner?

We are all aware that our assets will be divided after we pass away. We create wills outlining our intentions for our estate, but times have changed, and now non-tangible and digital assets are included alongside real land, money, and collectables. Loyalty cards are one item that lots of individuals disregard. This blog examines the various reward schemes and how they are handled when the account user dies.

Tesco

Tesco offers one of the most popular clubcard programmes in the UK. In addition to receiving offers and discounts on particular items, shoppers earn points for their purchases. Fuel purchases also earn points, so they quickly add up. Vouchers that can be used at Tesco stores, on outings, and with other businesses listed as Tesco rewards partners are made using points.

Tesco Clubcard's terms and regulations specify that members may get vouchers and points for departed family members. They must write their request and provide the deceased member's membership information. The points will be sent to the beneficiary after the account is cancelled.

Sainsbury's

Members of the Nectar Card can accrue points with Sainsbury's and 300 other partners. The points can then be redeemed with different brands. Additionally, they regularly feature offers from eBay and Argos to increase your point total, as well as specials around the holidays to earn extra points for your holiday shopping. With a Nectar card, you may also get points when you buy petrol.

As long as it is to another Nectar card user and they obtain formal verification, which is evaluated individually with each request received, Sainsbury's Nectar Card does permit the transfer of points after death.

Boots

Boots offers one of the UK's oldest Clubcard/loyalty programs. With frequent deals, the Boots Advantage Card gives double or more points for every £1 spent. Then, you can use points to buy things both offline and online at Boots. According to the terms and regulations of the Boots Advantage Card, points can be transferred to a beneficiary if they get in touch with customer service.

TopCashback

TopCashback works by giving you money when you click on a website through their site and buy something. After a few months, when the earned money has cleared and reached a certain minimum withdrawal amount (often £10), you can withdraw it. You should contact the company using the account information and death certificate if your loved one had a cashback account to inquire about transferring any accumulated funds.
